Description
Create a golden, crusty loaf of bread in just a couple of hours without the need for complicated kneading techniques.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon SAF yeast (or Instant or RapidRise yeast)
- 1 1/2 cups hot water (up to 130°F)
- 3 cups All Purpose Flour (aerated before measuring)
- 1 teaspoon coarse Kosher salt
- Extra flour for shaping
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Combine yeast and hot water in a large bowl; let sit for five minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture; stir until combined. The dough will appear lumpy.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm spot for one hour.
- Preheat your Dutch oven in a cold oven to 450°F after 40 minutes of rising.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently shape it into a ball.
- Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined bowl; cover with a towel and rest for 15 minutes.
- Carefully transfer the dough into the preheated Dutch oven (with the parchment). Bake covered for 30 minutes; then remove the lid and bake an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool completely on a rack before slicing.
Notes
Store bread at room temperature in a paper bag for up to 3 days. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 3 months.
